There is nothing so constant as Change - YW Manual

So we have had a few changes in our lives lately. The first one came about a month ago when I was asked to be the new Young Women's President in our Branch. I said yes, with a lot of "I hope I can do this" going through my mind. It is just a small group, about 6 girls. Each Sunday at church I learn something more I should be doing or planning. Seth is also the Young Men's President, so we are in charge of the youth program. There is actually only one young man and one more turning 12 soon. So our two little girls get dragged along each week for mutual and such. Savannah actually loves it. I get overwhelmed with all there is to do, but then the spirit calms my heart and reminds me about the purpose of YW and that is to bring the girls closer to Jesus Christ. All I have to do is take it all one step at a time and do the best I can. The funny part is I will probably be just figuring things out when we move again.
The second change came about two days ago, when Bella decided she no longer wanted to be nursed. Last Wednesday she ate fine in the morning and then I guess she just decided she had enough. Since then, she screams and cries when I try to nurse her. So I called the nurse and asked what the options are since she is 10 1/2 months old. Luckily they said I could start cow's milk. Yesterday was rough, but today is looking better. I am not very good at sudden change like that, so we are definitely still adjusting. Bella pretty much won't let me leave the room without her. This was not the case before the sudden switch. I was able to slowly wean Savannah so this is all new to me. Bella certainly has her own plan and schedule in mind. I was looking forward to being done with nursing, I just didn't think it would happen so soon and so abruptly. I am hoping we can all get adjusted soon. If anyone has ever gone through this and has some good ideas, let me know.
So needless to say, we did not get any Christmas cards out this year. We really wanted to, but with all that is going on something had to go. There is always next year right? We hope you all have a Merry Christmas, safe and warm with family and friends. It is snowing right now and looks so beautiful. White Christmas here we come. What a wonderful time of year!!!

Congrats to both of you - I had no idea. That is exciting for you guys to be working with the youth! I know you'll both be great at that! You are great examples!

Bryan & I also go to Mutual each week together. He's with the Deacons (Scouts) and I'm the 2nd counselor over the Beehives. It's a lot of fun!

Been there, done both of those :)

When it comes to YW, you are on the right track... putting the Lord first. It is His program and he knows. Second, you are there to serve those girls. You are perfect for it and I am so grateful they are in good hands.

About Bella, I just had to make feedings still a private, special time and Abi has done well. I also pumped as much as I could too. I remember my Dr saying to keep trying because she might just be getting lazy.

We miss you already. It feels so nice to be home, but we miss the people terribly bad. Have a wonderful Christmas... we love you!

Jeni,
I miss you so much! I am so happy to see your beautiful girls! They look so much like you(what lucky girls)! Koen, my baby, decided to stop too! Mostly cuz I just don't think he was getting all that he wanted! My boys are pretty greedy when it comes to milk! Its all or nothing with them. So I switched sadly to formula he is now almost ten months old so you got a little farther than me. But at least he feels satisfied now. I bet she wanted to stop mostly cuz there are so many other things to see and do. I love this age! Anyways I love to read and see all the new things happening in your life! I never knew how much fun this could be! I am so glad I started to do it too! I hope when you come back to SL you will look me up! It would be nice to see you again! Merry Christmas

Wow! I bet you'll be great. Those girls could learn some great skills from you. YW need more exposure to homemaking skills, and I when I think of that, I think of you as the perfect example. Besides, just a strong testimony and your willingness to always serve... you'll be perfect. Good luck.

Yeah, Ashton sort of weaned himself like that too, but at least I had one to still sort of finish it off. But man, I am still producing milk over a month after weaning! I think the clinginess is just kind of the age too.

And Merry Christmas!

You will be great with the YW. I know it. We didn't send out the Christmas cards either so Merry Christmas to you too.

Hi! You don't know me, but I saw your comment on Sarah Starr's blog so I clicked on your name, and came over to tell you something that I think is sooo neat. You mentioned the Mutual theme...that's why I wanted to send you a message. :) Then I got here and saw that you are the new YW president. Congrats! ANYWAY, this is excited for me. I do not know if you have heard of Jenny Phillips, but she does a CD to go along with the theme each year. She is a singer/songwriter for Deseret Book. Her website is www.jennyphillips.com.
Click on "Musi" up at the top and you will then see a picture of a YW with the words "Lightkeepers. Be thou an Example. Click on that and it will show you the cd. Cool thing is that you can buy the CD's for $3 each! To give to your girls.
THEN, if you click on "Downloads" up at the top, and sign up for her email list, you have access to the free download page. There is a document you can download that is called "109 things to do with the mutual theme." Lots of ideas. I'm pretty excited about it, so I hope you don't mind that I shared.. this is a long message from a stranger!
